some sand came out, and the camera started working. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. However having followed these instructions the lens has clicked back in place and now seems to be working perfectly again!!

i have a canon powershot sd1000.my sister dropped it a couple inches on the lens while it was still retracted. have a peek at these guys but now its working fine.
