A better solution is to set the VISA parameters using the "VISA Configure Serial Port" function, located on the serial palette under VISA. What could be the reasons for that error? This happend if you are using diffrent USB port. the number of bytes transferred was much greater then the "bytecount" input from VISAread. Then you also can have overflow.
